Office Solutions PC Requirements

The following information outlines the PC and network requirements for the Office Solutions software.

  • It is always our preferred option to install the Office Solutions server application on a dedicated PC near to the Telephone system.
  • If SMDR call logging connection is via IP then the PC may be located anywhere on the LAN.
  • If SMDR call logging connection is serial RS232 the PC must be located no more than 15 metres from the telephone system.
  • We do not recommend installing the Office Solutions server application on a main company file server machine or other server such as a mail server.

Minimum PC for Office Solutions clients & application server for systems with approximately 30 extensions

  • Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.5 GHz or better (or AMD equivalent)
  • 8 GB RAM or better
  • DVD drive (recorder only – backup)
  • 1 Free Serial Port
  • 1 Free USB Port
  • 10/100/1000 Network Connection (Dual NIC if recording SIP)
  • Win 7 Pro/Ultimate, Win 8/8.1/10 Pro/Enterprise (32 or 64 bit) or Win 2008/2012 Server OS (with latest MS hot-fixes/updates and service packs)
  • Working internet connection

Minimum PC for Office Solutions application server for systems with with approximately 50 – 350 extensions

  • Intel Pentium Dual Core 3.0 GHz or better (or AMD equivalent)
  • 8 – 16 GB RAM (depending on number of extension and call volume)
  • DVD drive (recorder only – backup)
  • 1 Free Serial Port
  • 1 Free USB Port
  • 10/100/1000 Network Connection (Dual NIC if recording SIP)
  • Win 7 Pro/Ultimate, Win 8/8.1/10 Pro/Enterprise (64 bit required to utilise >4 GB RAM) or Win 2008/2012 Server OS (with latest MS hot-fixes/updates and service packs)
  • Working internet connection

Important Notes:

  • Business OS only – Win 7/8/8.1/10 Standard and Vista Home OS versions ARE NOT supported by Office Solutions.
  • Server OS – A server OS must be used for the Office Solutions server application if more than 20 concurrent Office Solutions clients are to be connected.
  • Standalone PC – These specifications are for a PC running Office Solutions as a standalone application if other applications are running on the PC then the PC specification may need to be enhanced.
  • High call volume or larger sites – In large call centre environments with larger extension counts > 100+ and where real-time ACD monitoring is used; the specifications may need to be increased and the application may need to be run as a distributed application, installed on a separate server machine and separate call logger PC interfacing to the telephone system.
  • WAN – For multi-site requirements WAN connectivity is required. (VPN or fixed / static external internet IP address at each site)
  • Access – All Office Solutions PC’s require local LAN connectivity and must have internet access.
